November 13, 2007Jake tells about life on the road...
It always seems that the Jersey air we're in is colder regardless if it's winter or summer. If you've been through relationship problems you'd know what I'm talking about. It could feel that way anywhere you are. It's overcast today. The smoke stacks are churning, pumping out more clouds into the already polluted air. The traffic we're in is flowing, but people don't seem to understand what drive safely means. You can't pump you're own gas here or do much of anything else. The skyscrapers of Jersey City and Manhattan are in the distance and slowly fading behind us. It's a gloomy day that I'm definitely ready to get through as fast as I possibly can but, I'm excited to be playing in front of kids who care a lot for our music tonight. Shows are always amazing here. I love that!
It's cold again! I love it. But what I don't love is sleeping in it. Let me paint the picture for you. Riding six hours in the van, rapped up in my sleeping bag, stripped down to my boxers, passed out in the back bench would be a great picture if I do say so myself, but waking up after the van shuts off freezing and shaking because the hot air quit circulating in the van makes the cold air almost unbearable. Yeah, we don't get hotels or motels much. We sleep with friends and family on the road but the majority of the time it's in the van which makes picking up girls amazing...right?! I'm girl-less by the way. I'm doing a lot better now with my health. It's nice not having to cough every twenty seconds. Lucky for me, I had an awesome friend that read my blog on our myspace about me being sick and came out to a show in California and hooked me up with a lot of medicine to cure my virus. I had been sick for 3 months since Warped Tour this year. She hooked me up with Throat Lozenges, Airborne, and Ny-quil which has ridden me of any type of cough. I definitely wanted to thank her for what she did for me. That meant a lot. Unfortunately, Derek is still sick and not getting much better. So, if you're feeling generous, I'm sure he would love a care package. It surely helped me. I definitely wanted to thank Friends or Enemies for bringing us on board. It means a lot to us. I love you guys a ton. You mean the world to me! Jake
